Flex For A Cause is an initiative started by Flex Protein because as a brand we strongly believe that it’s not just the good that goes inside you, but also the good that you do on the outside and to others that matters. So, we are starting off a series of events on the lines of fitness, nutrition, animal welfare and the works to cater to a more Holistic sense of wellbeing.
March 8th is celebrated as International Women’s Day, and we at Flex Protein decided to kick start our Flex for a Cause initiative on Sunday, March 8th 2020. We collaborated with Hyderabad’s First & Only Internationally trained Belly Dance Teacher and Choreographer Reeja Karrai, who conducted a basic Bellydance movement workshop, exclusively for women. All proceeds from the event went to the My Choices Foundation.
My Choices Foundation
My Choices Foundation began in early 2012 as “My Choices”, a Hyderabad-based NGO providing free, grassroots services to victims of domestic violence and their families. The vision of bringing an end to domestic violence by harnessing the power of local women to become agents of change in their own communities was the driving force that led to the birth and subsequent exponential growth of My Choices.
Red Alert was founded in early 2014, with the vision to prevent trafficking of young girls for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
In October 2015 My Choices and Red Alert, operating as two separate NGOs, officially became the two operations of My Choices Foundation. The two entities changed logos and names becoming Operation PeaceMaker and Operation Red Alert of My Choices Foundation, but remained doing the same, impactful work.
The Foundation is committed to using the most innovative methods to end domestic violence and prevent sex trafficking in India.
Even though it was a Sunday morning, and people had already started to avoid social gatherings as we were at the onset of the COVID-19 virus entering Hyderabad, it was heart warming to see nearly 20 women from all walks of lives and ages dancing whole heartedly and contributing to this noble cause. The event ended with a thought-provoking talk by Andreea Breazovan, a representative from the Foundation. She also urged the participants to contact them in case any of the participants or anyone they know is going through abuse or domestic violence. The Help Line number to contact is 9333404141. This hopefully is just a start to many more such events and we hope to keep contributing to various causes.
